The Assyrian Aid Society of America wishes you all a peaceful and prosperous Assyrian New Year! We hope you are staying safe and healthy.

The Assyrian New Year, Akitu or Kha b’Nissan, is an ancient celebration that marks the arrival of springtime. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic this year, thousands of Assyrians throughout the world will not be able to partake in traditional celebratory events such as festivals and parades.

In north Iraq, where health systems are fragile and already stretched to provide for the ‘routine’ needs of the population, we ask you to join us in bringing emergency support to our people who are most threatened by this virus and least able to access the help they need and deserve.
